What is the effect of a coach not informing a player of a specific unique rule in a sports program?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Da Silva v. Gomes, 2017 ONSC 5841 (CanLII):

This matter is distinguishable from the facts in Foresteiri v. Urban Recreation Limited where the court found that it was a specific unique rule that the player was not informed of by the coach. In that case, the court found that had the player been informed of that unique rule, he would not have violated the rule and the plaintiff would not have been injured.
