What are the grounds of appeal against the finding that a new trial must be held?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. v. Gee, 1980 ABCA 330 (CanLII):

The other grounds of appeal related largely to the manner in which the trial judge directed the jury on the issues and in particular to what was alleged to be a failure of the trial judge to relate to those issues the material evidence. As I have concluded that a new trial must be held I do not propose reviewing the evidence in detail in relation to those grounds o£ appeal. The need for such directions are dealt with in the decision of this Court in Deegan v. The Queen (supra) and in the cases referred to therein. They stress the need to clearly set out the issues for the jury, the positions of the Crown and the defence in relation thereto. In so doing, it is necessary to draw to the attention of the jury the evidence relevant to each issue.
