In the case of Campbell v. Campbell, 2008 BCSC 154, Warren J. indicated that the court, on interim applications, should attempt to maintain the status quo unless there are exceptional circumstances. I do not regard the respondent’s illness as an exceptional circumstance. After recognizing her addiction, she has taken steps to control her addiction and there is the hope that with the completion of the most recent program, she will be able to remain sober. It is unrealistic, given the recent completion of that program and her age, to assume that she may immediately procure employment which will provide her with a reasonable lifestyle.
