Is jurisdiction simpliciter, forum non conveniens?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Morguard Investments Ltd. v. M.E. Pritchard Associates Ltd., 1999 CanLII 5520 (BC SC):

While the above passage seems to suggest that there must be a discrete and sequential analysis of jurisdiction simpliciter, forum non conveniens, and whether a reasonable measure of fairness and justice sufficient to meet reasonable expectations of the national and international communities would be preserved if the court exercised jurisdiction, MacKenzie J. of this court held in Leisure Time Distributors v. Calzaturificio (1996), 5 C.P.C. (4th) 320 (B.C.S.C.) that the issues may be intertwined, thus negating the need for a separate analysis. I agree with this approach.
