What is the limitation of the maximum amount of time a plaintiff has to spend at trial?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Chung v Quay Pacific Property Management Ltd., 2020 BCSC 1016 (CanLII):

The court may “otherwise order” where special circumstances warrant the departure from the limits set out in Rule 15-1(15). Special circumstances have been held to apply in cases where, for example, the trial took longer than the maximum amount of days referenced in Rule 15, or where the action was complex, or where a reasonable offer to settle was made but not accepted. See, for example, Peacock v. Battel, 2013 BCSC 1902, at paras. 17-18.
