What contribution should a child make to her own education?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Liscio v. Avram, 2009 CanLII 43640 (ON SC):

As Pierce J. observed in Cava v. Cava[2], the cases that have discussed what contribution a child should make to her own education are fact-specific. “In some instances, the children have gone away to university; in some instances, they have stayed home. Some children have come from high-income families; some are of modest means. Some have earned scholarships; some have spent what they earned, or earned very little. Some have been productive and earned significant income.” (para. 67)
