In what circumstances will an injunction be granted ex parte?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Prince Rupert Grain v. Grain Workers Union, local 333, 2002 BCSC 1351 (CanLII):

In Puget Sound Freight Lines v. I.B.T., Local 213, [1988] B.C.J. No. 2301, Madam Justice Boyd heard a similar case. Having granted an injunction ex parte, an application was heard to set it aside. That case involved a holding company and three operating companies and again, in my view, the connection or nexus was much closer than in the case at bar.
