What is the effect of having to pay child support on a married couple?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from Pelletier v. Kakakaway, 2002 SKCA 94 (CanLII):

The chambers judge found that circumstances exist which would cause undue hardship if he made an order for child support. While not stating why undue hardship exists, he was “convinced that an order requiring the respondent to provide child support would result in both a financial and an undue hardship to the respondent.”[8] He appears to rely on the fact that the financial obligations associated with raising a ten person family outweighs the financial obligation of maintaining a three person family. In so finding, he relied on Feniak v. Gerhardt.[9]
