Is there any case law where there was no contact between the parties?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. v. Hannam, 1986 CanLII 1997 (AB QB):

The case of Regina v. Ashley, decided by Mr. Justice Laycraft, as he then was, is an example of a situation where there was no contact and yet he found, with reference to the same section of the Criminal Code, that there had been an accident. His reasoning is persuasive and I accept it.
