Is a university degree a family property with a monetary value divisible between spouses?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Thew v. Thew, 1982 CanLII 651 (BC SC):

I find that in reading the California case Todd v. Todd (1968), 78 Cal. Reptr. 131 (Third Dist. C.A.), is of interest. That decision, although in a different context of community property, appears to support my view that university degrees as such are not family assets under the Family Relations Act with monetary values divisible between spouses. That is my view. Ruling accordingly.
