The Anns test was confirmed in Kamloops (City) v. Nielsen, 1984 CanLII 21, [1984] 2 S.C.R. 2. The first step of the test, a relationship of proximity or neighbourhood, is generally considered to be a low threshold. Mr. Justice Major summarized the Canadian test in Ryan v.
