In Lai v. The Queen [13] the taxpayer declared income that was inconsistent with his standard of living as he omitted to include certain information on his tax return. The taxpayer claimed that the amounts included in his income were loan repayments from his brother. The amounts came from the sale of a property in his country of origin.
