The following excerpt is from Kusnir v. Kusnir, 2001 CanLII 26415 (ON CJ):

[23] In Louise v. Scheuer (1995), 15 B.C.L.R. (3d) 270, 1995 CanLII 2988, [1995] B.C.J. No. 2510, 1995 Cars­well­BC 1030 (B.C.S.C.), the court stated that a student need not turn to student loans as a first priority if his or parent can pay reasonable support that would reduce or obviate the need to go into debt.
