What is the current state of the law on the use of the Social Security Advisory Guidelines?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Mason v. Mason, 2016 ONCA 725 (CanLII):

In Fisher v. Fisher, a case decided in January 2008, this court examined how the SSAGs were then being used across the country. While commenting at para. 97 that, at least as of that time, “the Guidelines cannot be used as a software tool or a formula that calculates a specific amount of support for a set period of time”, the court also cautioned that “[t]hey must be considered in context and applied in their entirety (emphasis added)”.
