What is the threshold issue for determining spousal support?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Yar v. Yar, 2015 ONSC 151 (CanLII):

The threshold issue for determining spousal support is entitlement. The relevant factors are found in s. 15(2)(4) of the Divorce Act. It is well-established that there are three grounds for entitlement to spousal support: compensatory support, non-compensatory support and contractual support. (Bracklow v. Bracklow, 1999 CanLII 715 (SCC), [1999] 1 SCR 420)
