Can a representative of an insurance company attend a hearing?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from Martin v. Toronto Dominion Bank (No. 2), 1985 CanLII 2508 (SK QB):

I find some support for this position in Smith v. Walnut Dairy Ltd., [1945] O.W.N. 801, wherein a representative of an insurance company was permitted to attend. See also Black v. Whataough, supra, where an agent of the plaintiff was permitted to attend.

I recognize that in certain instances a party will be excluded. However, this invariably has been for cause and involved the exclusion of a co-plaintiff or co-defendant. See Basu v. Bettschen et al., 1975 CanLII 821 (SK QB), [1975] 5 W.W.R. 754. These considerations do not apply herein.
