What is the test for a search to be reasonable?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from R. v. Hitchner, 1989 ABCA 41 (CanLII):

In Collins v. R. (supra) Mr. Justice Lamer, writing for the majority, said at p. 14: "A search will be reasonable if it is authorized by law, if the law itself is reasonable and if the manner in which the search was carried out is reasonable." It seems to me that this statement must apply as well to a seizure.
