Are recreational sports and other similar extracurricular activities considered "ordinary"?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from M.K. v. J.K., 2016 BCSC 311 (CanLII):

Recreational sports and other similar extracurricular activities – dance lessons, community sports leagues, ski trips, etc. – are generally considered "ordinary." The question is whether the participation goes beyond that of the "average child": DLC v. FMC, 2010 BCSC 1312 at para. 67. The children are all involved in extracurricular activities, but none are participating beyond the average child. In other words, none will be professional athletes or musicians.
