The rule in Prenn v. Simmons applies to contractual documents. It sets out the factors upon which parol evidence may be given in aid of contractual interpretation and prohibits the admission of extrinsic evidence to vary the express terms of a written contract. It does not apply generally to documentary evidence of other kinds.
