What is a good parenting quality?

Manitoba, Canada

The following excerpt is from Gray v. Gray, 2021 MBQB 98 (CanLII):

Canadian courts have commented about good parenting qualities in general. In Creasor v. Reidl, 2017 ONSC 6715, at paragraph 134, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice commented that “[b]eing a good parent requires an ability to look inward and be honest with oneself”. At paragraph 138, the court added that “[t]he willingness to set aside one’s own interests in favour of the needs and interest of a child, to admit mistakes and to be conciliatory are important and necessary parenting qualities”.
