Is Oncap entitled to claim for economic loss as a result of misrepresentation?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Oncap L.P. v. Computershare Trust Co. of Canada, 2011 ONSC 7129 (CanLII):

Oncap also contends that it is entitled to claim for negligent misrepresentation, which is also a cause of action recognized for economic loss. The requirements for establishing a claim of negligent misrepresentation are well known and need not be repeated here. See Queen v. Cognos Inc., 1993 CanLII 146 (SCC), [1993] 1 S.C.R. 87.
