Does the absence of an OHIP summary affect the outcome of a medical report?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Heather Jack, et al. v. Gowling, et al., 2011 ONSC 1363 (CanLII):

In Gelinas v. Ah Now, [2007] O.J. No. 3881 (S.C.), Shaughnessy J. pointed out at para. 16 that an OHIP summary is not a medical report. The details of the medical files from the treating physicians were more than adequate to offset the absence of the OHIP summary. Shaughnessy J. concluded at para. 18 that there was therefore “no real prejudice” to the defendant.
