When will a judgment be enforceable against an out-of-jurisdiction defendant?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Venterra Development Inc. v. Weber, 2008 CanLII 1953 (ON SC):

In deciding whether to assume jurisdiction against an out-of-jurisdiction defendant, the court must consider whether it would enforce an extra-provincial judgment against a domestic defendant rendered on the same jurisdictional basis. In Muscutt v. Courcelles, the court considered whether it would recognize and enforce a judgment rendered in another province. The reasons underlying the desirability of recognizing the judgment of another province where serious damages have been suffered within one province as a result of an accident in another province do not apply here. (vii) Whether the case is interprovincial or international in nature
