The test for determining a claim for the cost of future care is set out in Milina v. Bartsch, 1985 CanLII 179 (BC SC), [1985] B.C.J. No. 2762 (S.C.). The award is based on what is reasonably necessary to put the person in the position that he or she would have been in, if the injury had not been sustained. Where restoration to the pre-accident condition is not possible, then a damage award to sustain or improve the health of the injured party is in order.
