The cases of McGuire and Law Society of BC v. Hammond, 2004 LSBC 32, involved lawyers who used funds in their pooled trust account on a short-term basis to cover their operating costs. The funds were withdrawn and repaid on a revolving basis when needed. Both lawyers were found to have misappropriated client funds and were disbarred.
