Is an applicant entitled to compensation for using up his or her "sick days" entitlement?

Nova Scotia, Canada

The following excerpt is from B.C. v. Criminal Injuries Compensation Board of Nova Scotia, 1991 CanLII 5773 (NS CA):

An applicant who loses no wages as a result of using up his or her "sick days" entitlement is not entitled to compensation for lost wages, but to the value of the lost sick days. That value must be assessed as a matter of fact in each case, taking into account their likely value to the applicant. See: Garrison v. Lively, supra.
