What is the impact of a motor vehicle accident on future earnings?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Yount v. Prospect Electric Ltd. et al, 2005 BCSC 322 (CanLII):

The evidence is clear that the plaintiff did not lose any income because of the accident, although that is only one of the factors to be taken into account in considering damages for loss of future earning capacity. According to Mr. Justice Thackray in Vaillancourt v. Molnar (2002), 8 B.C.L.R. (4th) 260, 2002 BCCA 685 at ¶ 72: … past earnings are a significant factor that must, at law, be considered in assessing a loss of income earning capacity.
