What is the effect of dependency between mining promoters and engineers?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from D’amore v. Russ, 2003 CanLII 49307 (ON SC):

The following words of Sopinka J. are particularly relevant on the facts of this case. At p.606 of Lac Minerals v. Corona he said: “While it is perhaps possible to have a dependency of this sort between corporations, that cannot be so when, as here, we are dealing with experienced mining promoters who have ready access to geologist, engineers and lawyers.” “The dependency of this sort” referred to was the physical or psychological dependency such as parent and child, priest and penitent, and the like.
