Jahangiri-Bojani v. Brudderer[6] was decided in October 2001. The plaintiff was a 15-year-old student at a secondary school in North Vancouver. He suffered partial amputation of two fingers of his non-dominant left hand as a result of injuries suffered when the fingers were cut by a wood cutting machine. The plaintiff was active in sports prior to the injury. After the injury he did not play basketball nor baseball. He had trouble picking up small objects and could not pick up anything heavy. He had impaired grip strength. He used a computer before and after the loss but after the loss had to look at the keyboard when typing which was not the case before the loss. His typing speed was reduced. He typed with eight fingers on both hands. He experienced a loss of confidence. His mother said he tends to keep his hand concealed when meeting new people.
