We now turn to the election contest. White contends that the evidence is not sufficient to support the trial court's findings. "We are, of course, bound by the trial court's determination of the facts except to the extent that they are not supported by substantial evidence. [Citations.]" (Wilks v. Mouton, supra, 42 Cal.3d at p. 404, 229 Cal.Rptr. 1, 722 P.2d 187.) 11
