Government Code section 12940, subdivision (j)(1) prohibits harassment of an employee based on the employee's physical disability or other protected status. Harassment implicates "'the social environment of the workplace,"' e.g. "'interpersonal relations,"' and manifests itself as intolerable "'verbal, physical, or visual"' communications to an employee.
