During the prosecution case, the trial court ruled that any statement defendant made to police prior to receiving the warnings required by Miranda v. Arizona (1966) 384 U.S. 436, 86 S.Ct. 1602, 16 L.Ed.2d 694 were inadmissible as part of the prosecutor's case in chief.
