Is a prison official liable for failing to provide adequate medical care for a prisoner's serious medical needs?

MultiRegion, United States of America

The following excerpt is from Rojas v. CDCR, No. 2:18-cv-1740 KJM CKD P (E.D. Cal. 2018):

To the extent plaintiff believes he has been denied adequate medical care, plaintiff is informed that denial or delay of medical care for a prisoner's serious medical needs may constitute a violation of the prisoner's Eighth Amendment rights. Estelle v. Gamble, 429 U.S. 97, 104-05 (1976). A prison official is liable for such a violation only when the official is deliberately indifferent to a prisoner's serious medical needs. Id.
