Is a defense counsel's objection to the prosecutor's closing argument timely?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Morales, B224729 (Cal. App. 2011):

3. The parties dispute whether defense counsel's objection to the prosecutor's closing argument was timely. Respondent cites authority that the failure to timely object results in forfeiture. (See, e.g., People v. Morrison (2004) 34 Cal.4th 698, 730, fn. 14.) That authority, however, does not assist in determining when an objection is timely.
