What is the current state of the law on variation of interim support orders?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from Carlton v. Carlton, 2006 SKQB 259 (CanLII):

Variation of interim support orders is to be discouraged. They promote prolonged litigation and every interim order can be adjusted retroactively at the time of the trial. See MacEwen v. MacEwen, 2004 SKQB 271. The parties here are in agreement that the applications should be dealt with because any ultimate resolution at trial or by agreement is still in the distant future.
