Section 216 provides for interim orders, which inherently allow for stop-gap measures pending trial. As D. Smith J.A. explained in Fitzgibbon v. Fitzgibbon, 2014 BCCA 403 at para. 22, interim orders are designed primarily to maintain the status quo and to provide short-term solutions until issues regarding the best interests of a child can be fully canvassed at trial.
