What is the test for future care costs for a plaintiff who suffers from multiple sclerosis?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Pickwell v Rotter, 2022 BCSC 18 (CanLII):

The purpose of an award for future care is to compensate a plaintiff for costs which reasonably may be expected to be incurred to preserve and promote the plaintiff’s mental and physical health: Gignac v. Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, 2012 BCCA 351 at para. 30.

The test for assessing future care costs is well-settled and asks (i) whether the costs are reasonable and (ii) whether the items are medically necessary: Tsalamandris v. McLeod, 2012 BCCA 239 at para. 62.
