However, income disparity is not enough. The court must inquire as to the cause of the income disparity between the spouses in order to establish entitlement. To that end, our courts have recognized three grounds for entitlement to spousal support: compensatory, non-compensatory, and contractual: Chutter v. Chutter, 2008 BCCA 507 at para. 47; Bracklow, para. 25.
