People v. Yearwood (2013) 213 Cal.App.4th 161, 167168, 151 Cal.Rptr.3d 901.) Under the reforms adopted by the TSRA, however, life sentences were limited to cases where the new crime was a serious or violent felony or the prosecution pled and proved an enumerated disqualifying factor; in all other cases, the recidivist would be sentenced as a second strike offender.
