I must assess the damages. To the extent an award of money can do so, I must restore the plaintiff to the position she would have been in absent the defendants’ negligence (Athey v. Leonati, 1996 CanLII 183 (SCC), [1996] 3 S.C.R. 458 at paragraph 20). I note here that the plaintiff was an excellent witness.
