In what circumstances will a plaintiff be able to claim damages for unjust enrichment?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Kiyon v. Lanegraff, 2007 BCSC 1299 (CanLII):

In this regard, I note and agree with the observation of Blair J. in Strudwick v. Strudwick Estate, [1996] B.C.J. No. 776 (S.C.), where at para. 16 he wrote: ...In reviewing these cases I conclude that the efforts made by the plaintiff must attain a certain threshold in which the benefit provided and detriment suffered by the plaintiff must be substantial before a claim for unjust enrichment ought to be allowed.
