Sagadin v. Ripper (1985) 175 Cal.App.3d 1141 is instructive. The plaintiffs, who were under age 21, sued another young man and his parents for personal injuries the plaintiffs suffered in a car accident after they left a party at the young man's home where beer was served. (Id. at pp. 1148-1151.) The parents authorized their son to host the party in their home, and before the party began there was beer in a dispenser in the family room. (Id. at pp. 1149-1151.)
