How have courts dealt with the issue of juror identifying information?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Dean, A142658 (Cal. App. 2016):

10. In light of our conclusion that the trial court did not abuse its discretion in denying the petition for juror identifying information, we need not address appellant's related claim that the court's ruling violated his constitutional rights to an impartial jury and due process. "Since there was no abuse of discretion 'there is thus no predicate error on which to base [appellant's] constitutional claims. [Citation.]" (People v. Panah (2005) 35 Cal.4th 395.)
