How have courts dealt with claims of error in a motion for wrongful dismissal?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Westerfield, 243 Cal.Rptr.3d 18, 433 P.3d 914, 6 Cal.5th 632 (Cal. 2019):

We have rejected defendants claims of error. When we have alternatively assumed error, we have found each possible error also to be harmless. Considering the possible errors together for the purposes of this claim, we also conclude that their cumulative effect does not warrant reversal of the judgment. ( People v. Panah (2005) 35 Cal.4th 395, 479-480, 25 Cal.Rptr.3d 672, 107 P.3d 790.)
