Contempt may be found if the defendant decides to incur other debt obligations and pay the related creditors rather than comply with a court order to pay money, such as a support order. Additionally, a parent is “not entitled to choose to deprive his or her children of support in order to pursue a matter in litigation”: Heisler v. Heisler, 2012 BCSC 753 [Heisler] at paras. 135, and 139-142.
