Can an inference of indirect pecuniary interest be drawn primarily from a relationship between an employer and an employee?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from Holt v. Evans, 1982 ABCA 290 (CanLII):

This case is distinguishable from Guimond v. Sornberger, supra, where an inference of indirect pecuniary interest was drawn primarily from an employee-employer relationship. That inference was based upon more than mere speculation or expectation. There was a financial rather than a blood or family relationship. The relationship there could continue or be terminated by the employer
