In what circumstances will a joint tenant get possession of the premises?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from Canada Government of v. Peters, 1982 CanLII 2427 (SK QB):

Jenkins, L.J., in Gill v. Lewis, [1956] 1 All E.R. 844, at p. 849, stated: It seems to me that the right view must be that in order to obtain an effective judgment for possession against joint tenants judgment must be obtained against both of them. I cannot see that a judgment against one only, both being equally entitled to possession of the whole premises as joint lessees thereof, can have any effect at all. . . .
