Does a release clause in a release agreement apply to a beneficiary of a RRSP and life insurance policy?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Conway v. Conway Estate, 2006 CanLII 1448 (ON SC):

Gaudio Estate v. Gaudio 2005 CanLII 14574 (ON SC), [2005] O.J. No. 1773 (S.C.J.) also supports the position of the applicant in respect of the life insurance. There Justice J.H. Clarke held that release provisions of a separation agreement did not amount to a revocation of designation of beneficiary in respect of RRSPs and a group life insurance policy.
