What is the impact of having to work full-time during a break-up?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from S.A.H. v I.B.L., 2018 BCSC 544 (CanLII):

In Fisher v. Fisher, 2008 ONCA 11, the wife, who had worked either part-time or full-time throughout the 19 year childless marriage, was found to be economically disadvantaged by the breakdown of the marriage rather than the marriage itself. The court noted that her standard of living was significantly reduced when she moved into a small townhouse and lost the comfortable middle-class lifestyle to which she was accustomed.
