Expert opinion evidence is admissible if it meets the four criteria set out at paragraph 17 of R v. Mohan, 1994 CanLII 80 (SCC), [1994] 2 S.C.R. 9: • logically relevant; • necessary to assist the trier of fact; • absence of any exclusionary rule; and • properly qualified expert (includes requirement that the expert be impartial, independent and unbiased).
